The trading dictionary

Every word you’ll meet on the exchange, in plain language.

Ask
The price a seller hopes to get. It is a starting wish, not proof of what something is worth. See asks on the marketplace →
Bid
The price a buyer says they would happily pay. Your wishlist bids are your side of the market. Set a bid on your wishlist →
Sold
The price a Douglas really traded for when two people agreed. The only number we trust for value.
Comp
Short for "comparable" โ€” a real past sold price we compare against to estimate what a plush might be worth.
Spread
The gap between what buyers offer and what sellers ask. A big spread means people do not agree yet.
Order book
The list of everyone's asks and bids for one Douglas, side by side. It shows the whole conversation about a price. Open any plush to see its order book →
Mover
A Douglas whose sold value went up (a climber) or down (a faller) across real trades. See the Biggest movers board →
Portfolio
Your whole collection seen as one thing, with what it might be worth based on real sold prices. See your collection's value →
Escrow
A safe middle spot where payment waits during a trade. The seller is paid when the trade finishes properly, so nobody has to just trust a stranger.
Guardian
The adult who says yes before a young collector trades. Every young trader has one โ€” that is a rule here, not a suggestion.
Drop
A new release of Douglas plush arriving at once. Fresh faces on the exchange. See the latest drops →
Retired
A Douglas that is not made any more. No new ones will ever arrive, which is why collectors watch retired plush closely.
