Trading School · Lesson 2

What is a bid?

Your side of the conversation.

A market is a conversation. Sellers say what they hope for — those are the asks.

Buyers get a voice too. When you put a plush on your wishlist with a price, that is your BID: what you would happily pay.

Buyer I would pay $15 for a Mini Moose!

All the asks and bids for one Douglas, side by side, make its ORDER BOOK. The gap between them is the SPREAD.

When an ask and a bid meet in the middle — that is when a trade can happen.
